bonne soir!

Okay…I know it’s only really day 3 (4 if you count the day I left), but it already seems like its flying! And I haven’t really done the touristy stuff yet (well…I did go up the eiffel tower)!!
So last night, we slept at 3am. Ella and I ACTUALLY woke up at 8am and left the house around 8:30am to 8:45am AND WE RAN!!! We ran to the eiffel tower. I think I did my personal best so far at an interval of 6:1 (6 minutes running, 1 minute walking) and I did 6 reps of those. It was fantastic. We had the most beautiful morning too. I just google mapped it and we ran 5km!!! Sweet! Haven’t done that yet. Hopefully, we’ll get to run again tomorrow. We forgot our cameras, so we want to make up for it!!! Argh. It was so awesome to be running towards the Eiffel Tower.
Afterwards we walked on the other side of the Seine (oh yah! We were running along side the Seine river) and walked back almost back to the Louvre, where we found a cafe to have breakfast. That was the most expensive breakfast. 3 eggs for 7 euros. Literally…it was just 3 sunny side up eggs for 7 euros. I had a hot chocolate too and it was awesome though. Almost like a diluted version of the chantico I loved so much at starbucks.
So, when we left, we were frozen and we tried to jog back to the apartment without puking. And we each then went our separate ways. I tried to hunt down some place to study. So I thought I would try the bibliotheque nationale. It’s a library. Well, when I went in to try to study, the librarian almost yelled at me. But I think she was just talking loud. It was a quite place. Even her colleague had to tell her to hush. She said the place was only open to library card holders. So I asked where I could go study that was open to the public and she tried to explain it, but I could not understand her. So I pulled out my map and she wouldn’t show me on the map. She kept using hand gestures (which don’t help because when I exit the building, I have no idea which
way I am facing), and kept talking louder. She said I would find a “leetle library to stuh-deee.” They’re very protective of their library. I was gesturing how to get out of the room I was in (using my hand to say do I go around) and they immediately said “NON!” and frantically shook their heads. Geez louise.
I left. Frustrated and upset. And in no way was I going to find the place. Instead…I decided to head up to La Fayette, since I would be meeting Ella there anyway to go shopping and see if I could find a cafe to sit in. I needed some comfort hot chocolate. I immediately said starbucks to myself because I know they would not mind if I stayed for a while. And I found one. I had a chocolate viennis et caramel. It was so good. But it was sooo expensive. 5 euros for a size grande. So at least I was able to sketch out my assignment in hopes that I will be done prior to the deadline. I’ve been working on it bit by bit each day.
So Ella texts me and I walk over to La Fayette. We spray about a hundred (okay, really only 5 different kinds) of perfume on ourselves and she settles on one, while I get one (smells like green tea) and a perfume stick (called “in your arms”). Then we part ways again and I decide to walk along rue du montmare, to see if I could find some good deals on converse shoes. They are quite popular here. Except, there wasn’t much. So I walked back to the apartment because Ella text me to say that if I got back first, to let the girls know she was on her way (they are going to the opera). I stopped into a Virgin store to see if Lily Allen’s new album was out and I saw Justin Nozuka’s album! Cool! But everything was so expensive…at least 16 euros each CD.
I didn’t find anything, so I kept walking back to the apartment. I got back to the apartment and Ella was back, so that was good. I decided to go out again to take advantage of the nicer weather. I was determined to shop and see if I could find any good deals. Jill said to try the Rue de Rivoli. Which I did last time, but I went the other way (west) and found only touristy stuff. So I walked east, as suggested and there were a lot of place (Gap, H&M, department stores, etc). But I was unable to find any good deals on stuff I wanted, so I stopped into Espirit for fun and found jeans (really comfy) and high-heeled ankle-ish boots! They were actually comfortable and the combo of the two went well together! I got them both for 65 euros! The boots cost more than the jeans!
Happy I got a bit of a deal (still hunting for converse, but they were at least 45 euros…so forget that!), I decided to go to the bakery across from us and get a quiche lorraine and mille feuille (5.60euros!) for dinner. Now I am back and the girls left for the opera. I’m going to take a shower, post this blog and have my dinner. Maybe even attempt my assignment. I’ll probably just fall asleep until they get back. And then we’re going out to the Hard Rock cafe to meet up with other blockheads. I can’t believe the concert is tomorrow! It’ll be exciting! And then I see my hubbie on Thursday!
Until tomorrow!!!
Pic of the day:
The starbucks that saved me. Sorry it’s so far. I didn’t want to stand right in front of it for people to think…”stoopeed touristes.”
